Resources and Apps

These apps and websites are EXCELLENT for Online and Homeschooling as well! I don’t see why these can’t be great elective tool for brick and mortar schools as well! Parents like myself would look for some additional practice over breaks (esp summer break or a week or two before testing). These are all inclusive to each schooling option. These have done wonders for my children’s learning growth and equips me to monitor the success of my children!

https://www.adaptedmind.com/ focuses on math and reading. It’s adaptive so the more right answers the child gets, the more challenging the upcoming questions are. It’s SUPER engaging for children and a great way to keep up with their reading/math levels as parents.

https://www.flocabulary.com is an app that uses rap to teach and it’s so cool! They even have optional contests for the children to partake in. The instrumentation is phenomenal! But more than that, I’ve noticed that it made my children feel more comfortable chomping down words and flowing more fluently in their vocab skills!

https://nearpod.com/not-supported/ helps create lesson plans for our students from scratch if we have our own curriculum or assignment. School teachers can use this as well. They also have a library of lessons available. They have a free plan if you have under 40 students. But this tool has core classes as well as elective courses too! If the parent is a homeschooler, they choose the option that their school isn’t listed. (That option is in a small box underneath the initial sign up which is why I mentioned it. It may be harder to see using smaller devices. Parents have to check that box before being able to successfully sign up if they homeschool).

https://www.grammarly.com/ Ohhhhh now this is our oldie but goodie my dear writing Pals! I like this app because it allows real time responses to children’s progress. It allows more creativity to flow with the writing prompts. It also introduces the younger children to keyboarding and getting them more comfy with completing their academic task via the keyboard in general.

https://www.k5learning.com/ is also amazing! They have tons of free worksheets that parents can pull off and print from the comforts of our own homes. Reading comprehension is HUGE in my household so this site was one of the first ones I chose after deciding to homeschool. I knew that if my children could understand what they read, they would get better marks in the other subject areas. They also have multiplication tables, a wealth of math quizzes and enrichment too. Same as with reading. They have different levels of stories and short quizzes at the end.
