1) What exactly is your business and what inspired you?
I am a transformational coach, a change agent, a spiritual mentor who’s committed to supporting women to Raise Their Voice to be heard, seen and empowered to live in their passion, expressing their biggest bad ass dream. I am inspired because I deeply feel and understand the incongruities we face as powerful women hitting the glass ceiling and struggling to claim our rightful place as leaders.
2) What one thing do you do every day to move yourself forward and stay focused? Where do you find your inspiration?
I meditate every day. I see and feel inspiration all around me. I especially love nature and being around large bodies of water.
3) What do you do regularly to take care of yourself?
I focus on my health, eat a holistic diet, and exercise daily. I am constantly learning new things to keep my brain active and stay in a curiosity and wonderment space.
4) How do you keep yourself emotionally balanced while you are pushing forward?
Getting lots of rest, sleep and breaks during the day support my having the energy to keep moving forward.
5) What’s the best part and the worst part of your job?
Best part: Watching that aha moment when the penny drops for a client, like a vail has lifted from their vision and everything becomes clear. That’s the sweet spot.
Worst part: Feeling the pain people are in and having them turn away from getting support. Watching them stay stuck by believing in a story someone has sold them that is not really who they are. And then watching them struggle to get out but not having the support system, accountability or tools to move forward.
6) What failure taught you the most and what was it?
I thought on this a long time, and I really don’t see anything I’ve done as a failure. A long time ago I decided I was going to challenge myself to grow and change. So, every experience has taught me something. Each position, job, project taught me how to accept feedback as a growth opportunity. It supported myself awareness, my decision making, my creative process and build muscles of endurance, persistence, and accountability.
7) If you had to do something different, what would that be?
I would have paid better attention in school to writing skills. I am an effective verbal communicator, now I want to hone my skills as an effective writer.
I would have also invested in my abundance by investing more of my earning to create a deeper pocket of wealth.
8) If you had advice to give to someone else who was thinking of becoming an entrepreneur, what would that be?
It’s a brave, brave thing you do, and I know of no other way to live and dance to your own magic. I’ve been an entrepreneur for the majority of my life, I have struggled, I have been in deep pain. I have been lost and alone; but through it all I have chosen my own path. I have experienced the magic that comes with believing in myself and my vision. I’ve embraced the wonderful joy of finding my tribe and growing strong because of the challenges that I have worked through. I know who I am and what I stand for and no-body can lessen me because I have fought for and won the battles I have chosen. I live an amazing life full of creativity, wonder and value. When my life ends, everything I have done will have led me to the lesson and joy I live in.
9) What did you have to overcome personally to be able to do what you do?
I come from a small town where I was the odd person out. My family was lower income, both parents worked hard to support us, and they dreamed of a better life for my bother and myself. I never accepted the status quo and I never followed because I was supposed to. I spoke up, fought for my rights and the rights of others. My life has been gifted with amazing people and experiences.
I have a learning disability which I found lots of ways around. I never let anyone keep me from my calling. And my calling is to support the empowerment of women. I have spent a life time learning and teaching skills that support personal development.
10) Any last parting words?
My Raise your Voice program is a life time of work, learned skills, experiences and transformational. It is my life passion to change the view point of women, their perceived value and their place in the history of our economy. We need to value ourselves and the work we do to change the health of our children, our society and our mother earth.
